Why Canada Rules #43752: Bitchin’ Kitchen
I love food. Eating it, cooking it, looking at it, talking about it. I go on vacations as much to eat new things as to see different scenery. So I’m not ashamed to admit to you that I’m more than a little obsessed with the Food Network. But while I love watching just about anyone cook, in the past I’ve been irritated with the Food Network’s inability to branch out much in their hosting and show concepts–winners of The Next Food Network Star tend to be homemaker-type white ladies, and the American version of the channel appears constitutionally incapable of running shows that might be perceived as too “green” or vegetarian or lefty or whatever.
But, as you may or may not know, the Food Network is a bit of a different ballgame in Canada, running several of Gordon Ramsey’s profanity-laced humiliation-fests, plus my quirky new personal favorite: Bitchin’ Kitchen.
The video below is from Bitchin’ Kitchen’s early days as a Youtube phenomenon, but I strongly encourage you to watch some of the more recent episodes on Foodnetwork.ca, which bring the Bitchin’ to a whole new level.
Oh, Nadia G., if only the American Food Network were ready for your rockabilly style and post-one-night-stand cooking lessons!
